i just visited bonnefanten museum in maastricht, i don’t like the exterior of the architecture, but, when you come into the building, the play of light, and the space are extraordinaire.
long time ago, a friend of mine in tokyo told me,
great architecture is not just about the form, it’s about the surprise you get when you visit the space
you may hate the form of this building, but the daylight and the space itself become an open book of display. The cupola, void, and frames of windows, describe poetically how works of art, show and display themselves
sometimes it’s not only about the capacity and efficiency of the building, but also about the space of attractions, the surprise inside.
i would say i don’t like the building, but the architecture is timeless
